Second volume of 'Encyclopedia of Paper-folding Design'. From direct mail pieces and cards we encounter everyday to products involving complex folding methods, the works are presented in photographs as they are effected by folding, with flat diagram (on CD-ROM) of their prefolded forms as reference. 4th edition came out in August 2005.
Following Encyclopedia of Paper-Folding Designs, the first book in this series, New Encyclopedia of Paper-Folding Designs presents the folding techniques in flyers, leaflets, catalogs, in addition to direct mail and card projects. From relatively simple techniques to the most advanced, this book showcases various paper folding "tricks," such as folding up, folding over, wrapping, lifting, compressing, inserting, assembling, warping, and projecting. Vivid photographs and schematic drawings of each work make learning these methods clear for all levels. Drawings are also included on the accompanying CD-ROM in Adobe Illustrator format so readers can effectively learn from each drawing.
About the Author
Natsumi Akabane is a professional graphic designer and package designer who teaches at Joshibi University of Art & Design and Kuwasawa Design School in Tokyo.
